It’s live
Subscription Manager for Stripe is on WordPress.org as of yesterday. You can install it straight from your WordPress dashboard.
We’ve been building this at Profinto for a while now. It handles subscriptions in WordPress through Stripe, and it doesn’t take a percentage of your revenue. That last part is the whole point.
Why we built this
Most subscription plugins for WordPress charge transaction fees on top of what Stripe already charges. Some take 2%, others go up to 5%. At $10,000 in monthly revenue, a 3% plugin fee means $300 leaving your account every month for something the plugin should just do.
We didn’t like that model. So we built one that charges a flat license fee instead. You pay for the software, not a percentage of your sales.
What it does
The plugin connects directly to Stripe using OAuth 2.0. No middleware, no custom payment forms. Your customers check out on Stripe Checkout, manage their subscriptions through Stripe’s billing portal, and the money goes straight into your Stripe account.
Here’s what you get:
- iDEAL, Bancontact, SEPA Direct Debit, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. All included on every plan, even the free one.
- Usage-based billing through Stripe Billing Meters. We’re the first WordPress plugin to support this, which makes it a good fit for API products and AI tools.
- An analytics dashboard with MRR, churn rate, revenue charts, and subscriber counts, all inside your WordPress admin.
- An affiliate system so other people can sell your subscriptions. Commission tracking and payouts are built in.
- Cancellation saves. When someone tries to cancel, the plugin can show them a discount, a pause, or a cheaper plan before they leave.
- A 6-step setup wizard. Most people are live within 5 minutes.
Who it’s for
Anyone selling subscriptions on WordPress who’d rather not hand over a slice of each transaction. It’s a particularly good fit if you sell to European customers, since iDEAL, Bancontact, and SEPA work on every plan from day one.
If you’re building something usage-based, like an API or a SaaS with variable consumption, this is currently the only WordPress plugin that handles metered billing through Stripe.
How to get started
The free version is on WordPress.org. It covers unlimited products, unlimited processing volume, and European payment methods. No credit card needed. Just install it and connect your Stripe account.
For analytics, metered billing, affiliates, or multi-site support, paid plans start at $149/year with a 14-day free trial.
